At Ekill Drivingschool, we now offer hands-on training and testing using a high-end work machine simulator from Tenstar Simulation – one of the most advanced systems available today.

After passing the practical exam, the student will receive the work machine license by mail.

Who is this for?

This service is ideal for those who have already completed the theoretical course and passed the written exam. You can now book your simulator-based practical training and exam directly with us. Contact us at ekill@ekill.is

How many hours do I need?

The curriculum includes guidelines suggesting that a student should complete at least 16 hours of practical training. However, we base our assessment on whether the student is ready for the practical exam.

What does it cost?

A practical training session in the simulator is 45 minutes long and costs ISK 10,000.
The practical exam typically costs ISK 19,523.

What should I keep in mind?

If you are taking a crane operator exam, you must provide a medical certificate from a doctor.

It is essential to have good vision, hearing, and motor skills in order to operate a crane. The medical certificate must be submitted before the practical crane exam takes place.

The certificate must confirm the following:
• Vision: ≥0.8 in the better eye and ≥0.1 in the weaker eye (with glasses if needed)
• Normal visual field
• Normal hearing
• Normal and unrestricted limb movement
• The applicant must be otherwise healthy and not have any illness, or use any medication or substances that impair judgment or may cause sudden loss of consciousness
• The certificate must be less than six months old

As an alternative to a medical certificate, a driving license for larger vehicles issued within the last six months may be presented.

A – Stationary cranes and tower cranes

B – Mobile cranes larger than 18 ton-meters

D – Cranes 18 ton-meters or smaller

E – Excavators larger than 4 tons

F – Wheel loaders

G – Bulldozers

H – Graders

I – Tractors and smaller earthmoving machines

J – Forklifts with a lifting capacity of 10 tons or less

P – Loader cranes with a lifting capacity of 18 ton-meters or less

❌ We do not offer training or exams for the following categories:

C – Bridge cranes

K – Forklifts with lifting capacity over 10 tons

L – Rollers

P – Asphalt pavers
