Jac Norðquist is a devoted family man and spends much of his time with his wonderful autistic daughter when he is not working. He was born and raised in Iceland, Sweden, and at Keflavík Airport, and outside of work he draws energy from cooking exotic food, traveling, and his passion for shooting sports.
If he could go anywhere in the world, he would choose Japan to enjoy Japanese Chankonabe. On a weekend getaway, his perfect day would be spent in Nyhavn with smørrebrød, beer, and a good concert.
Jac began his career as a driving instructor after working for many years as an operations manager for a bus company. He discovered how much he loved teaching and took the leap to change paths and become a full-time instructor. It was especially the moment when he saw how much he lit up and felt at ease while teaching that convinced him he had found his true calling.
Through his work, he has come to realize that he possesses exceptional patience and a genuine passion for teaching. What he enjoys most is taking a student who has little or no confidence and helping them become a skilled driver. In his view, the most important qualities of a driving instructor are patience, courtesy, and positivity.
Jac recalls a memorable story from when a Ukrainian woman was taking lessons with him – they nearly lost a wheel on the bus, and afterward she whispered that he had taught her to drive better than the bus driver who honked as he passed by.
Jac sees the future as exciting, especially with new driving simulators that he looks forward to using in training. His advice to new instructors: ‘Never forget courtesy, even with demanding students.’
We at Ekill are proud to have Jac on our team – an instructor who puts his heart and soul into making the student experience both enjoyable and professional.
